London to Paris Bike Ride

Wheels in motion...

Imagine yourself sitting at home after a day at work and your daughter  comes in from work and says “dad I’m cycling to Paris to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis, do you fancy it?” and like any father  you reply “Why not?”.

Then your daughter says “Okay I will sort it out” and then disappears, as they do.

All of a sudden the penny drops – hang on what did she say – London to Paris.  The furthest I have ever cycled is to the chip shop, let alone 500 km.

That was the beginning of july 09 and wow how things have moved on.  We had set a target to raise £3,000 and as you can see WE HAVE DONE THAT with 7 months to go.( www.justgiving.com/hayleyandbrianbrotherton) and we have hardly started fund raising.

BBC Essex have taken an interest in what we are doing and having interviewed myself and Hayley  they have decided to follow us over the next 11 months to see how we are getting along.

We are pleased to announce that Maldon & District Cycling Club have offered to help us train and Vicki Cumberworth, who is a personal trainer and Nutritionist, is going to advice on the nutrion aspects,. I bet that means goodbye to my friday night chinese. We would also like to thank Tim Wareing at Timeware Software for setting up the website and blog. We are not using any of the sponsorship money to provide equipment in completing this task and therefore all equipment required will be coming out of our own funds or by donations.

It is our intention to auction everything off at the end of the ride. However there is another leg Paris – Helsinki which we may, and I repeat we may do.

Total pledged to date £3,050.00

Help us raise more
